Haciendas in Ecuador afford you the opportunity to glimpse back into Ecuador's colonial past. Hacienda stays are a wonderful way to spend a couple of days relaxing and taking in the local scenery.

Touted as the oldest hacienda in Ecuador, the Guachala hacienda is a good option for those wishing to experience hacienda-life but on a smaller budget than for some of the other haciendas surrounding Otavalo. The chapel houses a display of fascinating photographs of hacienda living in times gone by and it is easy to while away an hour or two here. With hiking and horse-riding opportunities available for reasonable prices, or relaxing in the pool, it is difficult to get bored quickly here. The kitchen serves up a fine menu of traditional home-baked treats, and one can spend a pleasant evening or two after dinner enjoying a glass of wine in the lounge around the open fireplace.

Other popular haciendas in Ecuador include Hacienda Cusín and Hacienda Pinsaqui the latter is where the great liberator Simon Bolivar spent a night and there are some interesting photographs of earlier days at this hacienda.

Haciendas in Ecuador are commonly stayed in around Otavalo (combine a stay with an Otavalo market tour!), but there are others in different parts of the country. If you want to stay in a hacienda in Ecuador, please advise us when we are planning your customized tour. Contact us to find out more.
